HIP #39
2008 Red Roan APHA Mare

MISS DIXON HEATHEN - 2008 Red Roan APHA Mare. I’ve owned her since 2012. Sound with a size 1 shoe or leave her barefoot. Been used for ranch work (doctoring cattle, roping, loading cattle, herding cattle and dragging calves to the fire). I’ve used her to work young colts in the round pen. As well as winning money as a heel horse and flagged ropings. Best suited for lower numbered roper. (Just doesn’t have the speed for the higher numbered ropings.) Been ridden through town, along busy roads. Cars, dogs and pedestrians don’t bother her. She direct reins, neck reins, flexes and all-around rides very well. Gentle as can be with no funny business. No bite, no kick and no rare in this one. Will go as slow as you want but is not a deadhead. Best suited for intermediate rider or above simply because she’s broke to do what’s asked of her. My sons have ridden her since they were little as well as inexperienced friends and relatives with supervision. If you’re looking for one that can sit for months, she’s the one. Just tighten the cinch and step on.
